Hello!

My name is Grey Lee. Welcome to my website :]

About

Hi! I'm a software engineer and game developer in Boston, MA. I studied computer science at the University of Toronto with a focus on graphics and game development.

I focus on usability, performance, and accessibility, especially in interaction design, gameplay systems, and developer tools. I’m drawn to projects that pair solid technical foundations with clear design intent, and I enjoy collaborating across disciplines toward a common goal.

I also like music, swords, and bread.

My experience spans both game development and web applications. Most recently, I worked on Riot Games’ live-service title Teamfight Tactics, building and maintaining features for a large, cross-platform player base. I’ve shipped production C++ code in a proprietary engine, led cross-disciplinary feature work, and supported client development in JavaScript. I’ve also built internal prototypes in Unreal Engine and Unity.

Alongside game development, I build web applications using TypeScript, React, and Next.js, with an emphasis on clean, accessible UI. I’ve shipped features for education and research platforms, contributed to community-driven projects, and regularly explore new ideas across frameworks and tools.

Games are where I get to explore the interplay of interactivity, design, and storytelling. I’m drawn to games with a strong sense of intent -- where mechanics, systems, and aesthetics work together to support a clear emotional goal. I’m especially interested in games that embrace friction and discomfort; resistance, failure, and frustration can be meaningful when intentionally crafted.

I’m particularly interested in environment design, and I strive to create worlds that feel unique, alive, and carefully constructed.

Outside my own projects, I stay active in my local dev community through demo nights, the Godot user group, and the occasional lightning talk. Say hi if you’re around!

When I’m not coding or designing games, you’ll often find me at rehearsal, playing the viola in a community orchestra or chamber group. I also practice historical fencing, which mixes research and hands-on practice. My club focuses on the Italian fencing tradition, and I'm partial to the rapier and dagger.

On quieter days I like to bake, study Latin, or get lost in a movie. I enjoy creative outlets of all kinds, whether through food, language, or storytelling.
